Latest Updates
Dear Customer

We would like to bring to your attention a possible privacy issue related to casting Google YouTube app from guest devices to in-room Google Chromecasts connected to in-room TVs.

In brief:

  • Google has recently launched a new update to the YouTube app that prompts users to login and associates the login not with the particular casting session but with the Google Chromecast device.
  • When guest is pairing his/her mobile device to cast Google YouTube, the new Google YouTube app encourages guest to sign in. Guest can skip login by selecting the “X” at the top right of the notification box
  • If guest decides to sign-in, then guest must sign-out manually before check-out as  the login will not expire.

Unfortunately, Google is not giving control to force sign-out which implies that the sign-out process from Google YouTube/Google Chromecast must be performed manually either from the guest or by the hotel staff.

Taking into consideration the above and In the interest of protecting guests privacy we have decided to suspend casting from YouTube app.

Please note that

  • Casting from all other applications like Netflix,  Amazon Prime etc continues to be available and fully operational.
  • The issue is already escalated to Google

We are at your disposal for any further information or clarifications

Kind Regards
George Chatzidakis
Operations Director
